Your Chance to Create a Lasting Legacy Outside Surrey Heath Museum

Surrey Heath Museumis looking for creative people from the borough to flex their artistic talent and enter the Surrey Heath Museum Mosaic Competition.

Surrey Heath residents are invited to enter their own design for a mosaic which will be created outside the museum entrance. The design needs to be eye catching and represent one of the 16 wards of Surrey Heath on each slab which will sit around a central circle.

The Surrey Heath wards that need to be individually represented are:

Bagshot, Bisely, Chobham, Frimley, Frimley Green, Heatherside, Lightwater, Mytchett and Deepcut, Old Dean, Parkside, St. Michaels, St. Pauls, Camberley Town, Watchetts, West End and Windlesham.

The competition is open to all ages and there is no previous experience of working with mosaics required. There are design requirements and specifications which can be found on the entry form which entrants can download from www.surreyheath.gov.ukor pick up from Surrey Heath Museum and the deadline for entries is 18 August 2012, the mosaic will be in place this Autumn.

The winning design will be selected by a panel of judges including Cllr Tim Dodds, David Bowers from Mosaic Madness, Gillian Barnes-Riding Senior Officer Surrey Heath Museum and Trish Washer Cultural Services Manager. There is no need for the design to be in mosaic at this stage and the winner will be notified by 29 August.

The mosaic forms part of the lasting legacy from the ‘Nepali Connections’ exhibition that was on display earlier this year and also marks the end of Cllr Tim Dodds successful year as Mayor.

The Surrey Heath Museum Community Mosaic has been made possible thanks to the funding received fromlocal donors, Friends of Surrey Heath Museum and Surrey County Council.
