Free family fun at Play Days in Basingstoke, Whitchurch and Tadley

Circus skills, a bouncy castle and craft activities are just some of the free activities for families at Play Days in Basingstoke, Tadley and Whitchurch on Wednesday 1 August.

As the summer holidays get underway, parents are being urged to bring their children along to the free events organised by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in partnership with RCS Play to mark National Play Day.

The events will be held at Eastrop Park in Basingstoke, The Hurst Community School in Tadley and Testbourne Community School in Tadley.  The fun starts at each event from 11am and runs until 4pm, giving families the opportunity to play and learn together.

Other activities on offer are pond dipping, sport activities, face painting and scarecrow making. A children’s farm will also be visiting the Basingstoke and Whitchurch events.

National Play Day 2012 aims to highlight the importance of play and encourages children to learn while having fun outdoors.

Car Parking in Eastrop Park is limited to disabled badge holders only so residents are encouraged to use the free park and ride service from the Old Common on London Road (opposite the Skewers Public House) available from 10.30 am to 4.30pm which will depart every 15 minutes.

Cabinet Member for Partnerships Cllr Cathy Osselton said: “With school holidays beginning many parents will be looking at what they can do with the children that will keep them amused and not break the bank.  This event will not only offer a great free day out for all the family but also give them ideas for activities that they could enjoy together throughout the summer.  The Eastrop Park Play Day has always proved very popular and I’m delighted that this year the Tadley and Whitchurch events will also be running all day.”
